use by the OPCW inspectorate. Use of GC with one or more spectrometric technique such as mass spectrometry is required to conRrm the presence of chemical warfare agents. For this reason many analyses are carried out by GC-MS under electron impact or chemical ionization conditions. For analyses involving low levels of chemical warfare agents in the presence of high levels of interfering chemical background, GC-MS-MS is receiving increased attention. Atmospheric pressure ionization (e.g. electrospray (ESI), ionspray and atmospheric pressure CI) techniques may be used for the direct mass spectrometric analysis of the hydrolysis products of chemical warfare agents in aqueous samples. Examples of LC-ESIMS methods for these analyses are relatively few, and only recently has this technique been demonstrated for the analysis of the nerve agents as well. These new LC-ESI-MS methods complement existing GC-MS methods for the analysis of chemical warfare agents and their hydrolysis products and will likely replace some GC-MS methods currently in use for the analysis of contaminated aqueous samples.

Precolumn diastereomerization and micellar electrokinetic chromatography on a plastic microchip: rapid chiral analysis of amino acids.

Precolumn derivatization and chiral separation of DL-amino acids based on diastereomerization have been performed on an integrated poly(dimethylsiloxane) microchip. Diastereomeric derivatives were formed in a microfabricated precolumn reactor by the reaction of amino acid enantiomers with o-phthaldialdehyde/2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-1-thio-beta-D-glucopyranose (OPA/TATG), and separated by MEKC in ...

Synthesis of chiral 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazole derivatives from amino acids.

A versatile method for the synthesis of chiral 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazole derivatives starting from easily accessible naturally occurring D-or L-amino acids as chiral synthons is described. The amino acids were converted into azido alcohols, followed by copper catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition reactions between the azido alcohols and methyl propiolate and subsequent ester aminolysis with prim...

An enantioselective fluorescence sensing assay for quantitative analysis of chiral carboxylic acids and amino acid derivatives.

A chiral 1,8-diacridylnaphthalene-derived fluorosensor exhibiting a C(2)-symmetric cleft designed for stereoselective interactions with hydrogen bond donors has been used for the determination of both concentration and enantiomeric composition of carboxylic acids and amino acid derivatives.

Highly efficient synthesis of chiral beta-amino acid derivatives via asymmetric hydrogenation.

The Rh-TangPhos complex is an efficient hydrogenation catalyst for making chiral beta-amino acid derivatives. With the Rh-TangPhos system, high enantioselectivities (up to 99.6%) and turnover numbers have been obtained in the hydrogenation of E/Z isomeric mixtures of both beta-alkyl and beta-aryl beta-(acylamino)acrylates. [reaction: see text]
